Who is Prof. Dr. Ugur GUNEL?

Prof. Dr. Ugur GUNEL was born in 1954 in Osmaniye. After graduating from Eskisehir Maarif College in 1972, he completed Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1978 and earned the title of Medical Doctor. During his university education, he did his internship at the University of Cologne, Germany, Faculty of Medicine. He completed his specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology in 1985, which he started in Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1980. He completed his military service at Tatvan (Bitlis) Military Hospital as Specialist Physician Sub-Lieutenant; He completed his compulsory service as a Specialist Doctor in Aksehir (Konya) State Hospital. He started working as a specialist in Ankara Sample Training and Research Hospital 2nd Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic in 1989. Prof. Dr. Gunel worked as a part-time lecturer (in the field of Biomechanics) at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences of the Middle East Technical University between 1990-1992. He gained the title of Associate Professor in 1993 and between 1992-1999, he served as Deputy Chief Physician at Ankara Sample Training and Research Hospital and Assistant Chief of the 3rd Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic. During this period, he succeeded in participating in the Professional Development Program in The Methodist Hospital Houston, Texas (USA) in 1995. He has been working as the 4th Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic Chief of Ankara Sample Training and Research Hospital since 1999. Prof.Dr.Gunel has a International Hospital Development Projects Commission Membership in Baku (Azerbaijan), T.C. Ministry of Health Medical Supplies Investigation Commission Presidency, the IWF (World Weightlifting Federation) and the EWF (European Weightlifting Federation) Medical Committee Member and duties as Deputy President of Turkey Weightlifting Federation has also brought out successfully. Receiving the title of Professor from Pamukkale University in 2011, Prof. Günel worked as a faculty member in Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology and as a consultant at the SSI Presidency. Prof. Günel personally managed the establishment of many Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinics abroad, especially Azerbaijan Gence International Hospital. Throughout his professional life, Prof. Günel worked at Ankara Private Magnet Medical Center between 2016-2020 and still continues to accept patients in his private practice. He has many publications in Turkey and abroad, Prof. Dr. Ugur Gunel speaks advanced English and intermediate level German. He is married with the Medical Oncology Specialist Prof. Dr. Nazan Gunel and has a child.
